Simple Mind
A downloadable game
UPDATE:
The game is now also available on Catalog, with an extra Puzzle mode and graphical themes!
Background
A few weeks ago I wanted to play a game of Mastermind and explain the logic-based concept to my kids, but to my surprise I realized no such game was built yet for the tiny yellow handheld, so I decided to give Pulp a run for its money and build it myself.
In case you don't know the concept of the game, Simple Mind will task you with finding a hidden secret code made of 4 numbers, in a maximum of 10 tries. After each try, the machine will answer you if the numbers you have tried are part of the code or not. It will not tell you exactly which one is correct though, only if you submitted some numbers that are part of the code, and if some numbers are in the right place.
The goal of game is then to find in as little attempts as possible the hidden code using only these hints.
Game features
- 4 levels of difficulty to challenge yourself to the most hairy combinations
- Statistics of your games so that you can track your performance and progress (fastest solves, streaks, win rate)
- A step by step tutorial to quickly get up to speed with this all-time classic
- Easy to pickup for a quick round while you're waiting for your colleagues to join that zoom call
How to install
Instructions to sideload the game are available here.
Notes
I have excluded the source file from the archive for now, mainly because the code is dirty and not ready to reuse, but might opensource it once I've done some housekeeping.
